Chad Deagle, BMus
Chad Deagle is one of Atlantic Canada’s most established musicians, guitarist, guitar and music educators. He began his well rounded study of the guitar and music by graduating at the top of his class from Selkirk College’s Contemporary Music program in Nelson, British Columbia, in 2003. He completed Yamaha International Guitar Pedagogy courses in 2004, at the Yamaha Music Center in Toronto, Ontario. In 2009, Chad graduated with first class standing from the University of Prince Edward Island with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in classical guitar performance and musicology. During his studies he was the recipient of several scholarships and university prizes. He has also studied and performed in master classes with esteemed players such as Dr. Jim Dickson (USC, UNC Greensboro, UPEI) Eugene Cormier (Acadia University) Darren Mahe (Selkirk College) Paul Landsberg (Selkirk College) and Glenn Mitchell (Selkirk College)
Chad has had extensive and diverse performing experiences on stages from British Columbia to Prince Edward Island and beyond. He has performed numerous styles: from R & B, Rock and Metal, to Classical, Country, Bluegrass, Jazz and Folk. During his University career he performed early Renaissance music with the UPEI Wind Symphony. Chad has been the lead guitarist in some of PEI’s hottest rock acts and has done studio session work, appearing on recordings all across Canada.
Chad has been a guitar instructor for over twenty years, and has become one of the country’s’ most sought after teachers and players. Chad has a wealth of teaching experience in all styles and levels, and has taught all age groups. He taught theory and ear training course at Selkirk College, Introductory Music Theory Courses at UPEI and taught guitar in British Columbia, Alberta and Nova Scotia. He has been teaching guitar here on PEI since 2003, in both a private and group class setting. Chad is presently serving as an instructor of guitar, harmony & ensembles at the Holland College School of Performing Arts (SoPA).
Recent theater credits include the international hit Mama Mia! and Jesus Christ Superstar, where he occupied the principal guitar chair. Recently, during Summer 2022, Winter 2023 and 2024, Chad played lead guitar in the theatrical concert A Kind of Magic - A Night of Queen. During 2024, he has been the principal guitar in Anything for Love - The Music of Meatloaf, Super Trouper - The Music of ABBA, Still Standin’ - The Music of Elton John & Billy Joel and Against All Odds — The Music of Genesis, Phil Collins & Peter Gabriel.
He also runs the PEI School of Guitar in Charlottetown.
Donovan Morgan is a seriously gifted educator and guitarist. He began teaching at PEI School of Guitar in 2018, and brings with him a wealth of talent and experience. Not only has Donovan been a songwriter/guitarist for numerous bands over the years, presently with The Royal North, but also has experience with audio production at Sp00nfed Studio.
